Poor Samuel Pepys...What a fascinating post, Nicola. Poor Samuel Pepys, having his kidney stone removed with anaesthetic. It must have been agony. And the surgeon Thomas Hollier's three inch incision between Pepys' scrotum and anus probably also left him infertile.
