My "Rapunzel Tower" complete with plait of hair |
I've been reading Louise Allen's new on-line Regency story this week, An Experiment in Love. If you haven't found it yet, it can be found by clicking here , and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Louise's story – which comes out as a shortish chapter every day, Monday to Friday – started me thinking about what readers like best in their on-line reads.
Do you like a daily chapter? Or would you prefer weekly, or monthly?
Do you want weekdays only, for the coffee break at work, or would you like weekends as well?
What sort of length do you prefer? A quick read, 5 minutes at most, or something longer? How long is too long?
I'd really love to know. We've done on-line serials on this blog in the past, usually at Christmas. Maybe if you, the readers, would let us know what you want, some of the authors here would be spurred on to write a new serial. I will admit that I've been thinking about it...

PS I couldn't think of any appropriate images for this topic, so I'm including a photo that is ...well... interesting. It does have a vague link to romance, if you're deep into fairy tales. And if you want to see it for yourself, you'll have to go to Lake Constance on the borders of Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Thanks very much for mentioning my fee on-line read, Joanna. The link didn't appear so I'm trying it here

Sorry, Louise. The link is under the word "here" and it was originally blue, but because I clicked it to check it worked, it seems to have changed colour to become invisible. I'll try going back into the edit screen and redoing it.
BTW, readers can ignore Louise's typo. There's no fee for her on-line read. It's free!
Joanna [giggling]
Have tried to make link clearer. You need to click "by clicking here" in the first para and it should come up. On my PC, I still can't make it blue, but maybe it's OK for other people. Hope so.
Well, back to the topic... I prefer daily, because I'm sometimes scattered brained and will forget the story line if there's too much time between postings. I would have never made in Charles Dickens' era!!
Thanks for dropping in, girlygirl, and giving me a laugh. Interesting to hear what you like. I'm assuming you'd prefer seven days a week, rather than just Monday to Friday. Less chance of forgetting the story line?
Joanna [grinning this time]
I love the Rapunzel tower, Joanna!
I think short, coffee-time reads work well on a daily basis, but I prefer a gap between longer installments so I can digest what I have read so far.
Thanks Melinda. I love it too. The picture doesn't do it justice. First time I saw it, I couldn't stop laughing.
Thanks for the comments. Really interesting to hear how people like to read. Must admit that I'm really enjoying Louise Allen's serial but I was a bit miffed that there was no chapter today and that I have to wait till Monday.
