Three-Armed Heroine?

Blogging again this month to show you the long-awaited cover of Delight and Desire, the ebook prequel to Bride of the Solway, both out in September from the Harlequin website. Delight and Desire will be available from Wednesday in the Historical Undone ebooks series here, as an ebook only. Bride of the Solway is available here, both in print and ebook formats.

It's a pretty cover, I think. However, the thing that really intrigues me about this cover is that fuzzy section just below the heroine's left elbow. It looks as if someone didn't quite erase the picture underneath. Any guesses as to what it is?

I'm so intrigued that I'm going to offer a print copy of Bride of the Solway to the best suggestion for what it might be. The prize will go to whichever suggestion I think is best, which may well be the one that makes me laugh the most.

My own suggestion is that it's a phantom third arm for my heroine, complete with white evening glove. Now it's over to you, folks!

Now, that is an amazing front cover, I love the body position of the couple. I really do love the woman's hair colour.

My suggestion for the little image where her left elbow is I think a (This might sound a bit wierd) hand of a monster, its hand is seen and ready to grab the female protagonist as she is fully distracted within the arms of her beau....*laughs*
As you reach the side of her arm to her hair, you can see the form of the monster.

I think that's all I can think of, but I do hope that it's entertaining. *smiles*

Ok I'm being very normal and boring here, but to me it looks like water coming out of a small fountain......

And is it just me or does the gentleman look an aweful lot like Brad Pit???

Hmmm ... looks like the corner of a mantlepiece to me. Maybe the artist had then in the salon and then decided to move them outdoors?

I don't know about Brad Pitt but the gentlemen certainly looks good enough to eat!

Interesting thoughts, folks! Thank you for the ideas. As judge and jury on these, I shan't comment until all the suggestions are in.

I can see what you mean about Brad Pitt. Sort of.

Maybe that gives people other ideas about what the mysterious image might be?

Like Kim I thought the fuzzy bit looks like a fountain, Joanna. any fountains in the book (real ones, not metaphorical, of course!)

Otherwise, I love the cover, although no obvious Scottish links.

Mmm. That fuzzy bit behind her arm is a marble column with two owls perched side by side, speculating.

But did you notice that on the cover on the Harlequin sight it's missing? Which means it must be a portal(with owls guardians) that leads to another world. Whatever it is I'm looking forward to reading it very much!

I think it is a fountain, which is not funny - although may be usefu if the hero needs cooling down

I am really enjoying all your suggestions. Do please keep them coming.

Since the story is an Undone, Melanie and Sarah, it is not unreasonable to speculate (!!) that the hero may, at some stage in the proceedings, need to cool down. But more than that I cannot say.

Nicola, you are right about the cover on eHarlequin. I've just looked. So the cover jpeg my editor sent me is eerily different from the published one. Makes me think all sorts of creepy thoughts about what might be going on. Scottish ghosts (ghaists and bogles) maybe...?
